BigPond is a great mailing service which served a wide range of users till 2012 when Telstra announced that they are going to upgrade the Webmail service. Since then it has been rebranded to Telstra email but the switch has been quite smooth because the existing users of the previous version did not have to re-register but only log in to get into their account. So, if you want to setup Telstra email too on your laptop, you have visited the right place.

If you are an existing user of the webmail service, you will need to upgrade your existing account to Telstra. To set up the latest version of the account on your device, you will require Telstra username and password if you don’t have one. As per the BigPond Support Australia, the setup and use of your account may require data usage charges.

  • Ensure to check the application version through:
  1. Launch the email program.
  2. Go to Help and choose About attached to the name of your email program.
  3. A dialog box will appear and include here the version you already have.
  • Choose the Windows application for setup instructions amongst:
  1. Outlook Express (5.5 or 6.0)
  2. Outlook 2010
  3. Outlook 2007
  4. Outlook 2003
  5. Outlook 2000 or XP
  • After selecting the Windows application, you will be prompted through the process.

If you cannot find the email application listed, in that case, you will have to use the IMAP, POP and SMTP information for manual email setup. Telstra’s web-based client, in their new version, has seen a big improvement. So, be a part of their service, it will work wonders for your Windows systems.
